Story-wise, Remnants is one of the first important themes in the game. This theme is played during conflicts with Miluda, Wiegraf's sister, who is one of the first to make protagonist Ramza question the true consequences of his actions. The theme itself befits its position in the narrative by creating open space that leaves room for questions. Although the texture seems devoid of a centralizing melody and is built more around interlocking motives, the sparcity in instrumentation and noticeable contrast in musical tessiture create both openness and tension. In turn, these characteristics may leave the listener with many questions as well.
